The Oliver Family Reports Assignment #44 Make a "LTLYM assignment". "Make a piece of art for your parent's refrigerator." Carol Oliver |
With the medium of your choice create an original piece of art suitable for hanging by magnets from the fridge. It should be no bigger than 9 x 12 and lie flat. Try to make it something your parent would like - perhaps their favorite flower or a self portrait. Give it to them and explain it just as you did when you were a child. Take a picture of it on their fridge and upload it, along with an explanation of your piece. Once it has been posted, show it to them on the website. Example: I chose to make art for my mother in the form of illustrating a blessing we sometimes use at mealtimes. I wanted something that would connect us on a daily basis since she lives at the opposite corner of the country. This is a grace she admired when sung at our table on one of her visits. But my choice has much more meaning than that. Scarlet poppies are one of my mother's favorite flowers. My mother is slowly having all the moving parts of her body which make her mobile replaced and I imagine that someday when all the pain is behind her she can run through fields of scarlet poppies. And grace will lead us home. |
