In my ideal government almost everything would be a meritocracy. A King or Queen would rule us and they would appoint people to different positions who had been outstanding subjects, it would also be a Parliamentary system. Education would be a lot less expensive so that those who come from nothing have the chance to be something. Everyone would have access to information. We would have no capital punishment but a well funded and educational prison system. We would all be people and not be divided by race or ethnicity. We would have a class system but people would have the chance to move up it. Dance would be a required course in all schools and so would a second language. All dealings of government would be conducted in French or Latin. The government would not have an official stance on scientific or religious debates but would encourage and fund further research and studying on the subjects. Logic and rhetoric would also be taught in all secondary schools. -I suppose this is not so much how I wish the government would be, but how I wish the world would be.
