My ideal government would use science as the backbone of its legislative decisions. The government would stay nearly completely out of a citizen's private life. For example, government drug policy would always fund and listen to objective studies about drugs, and intervene between a user and a drug if and only if real studies had demonstrated a serious danger to the person/society. My government wouldn't foolishly traipse to war when it could hardly fund its schools. Only the brightest men and women would lead this government, as the public would directly influence elections. Provisions would be made to prevent money and lobbies deciding legislative or electoral challenges. There'd less policing. Instead, there'd be more supporting. In short, it would stay the fuck out of everybody's lives and only take actions that everybody supports.
