Advice to L:
Childhood:
1. Take ballet. You'll regret that you didn't it when your older.
Age 14:
2. Don't take advantage of your family situation. Cherish the fact that you have a "normal" family while you have it.
Age 15:
3. Don't hate your dad. It wasn't his fault things happened the way they did. The year you will lose with him is something you'll never get back.
4. Don't dye your hair. You'll spend five years trying to fix it.
Age 17:
5. Your boyfriend may seem to be really important right now, but don't let it get in the way of your best friends. Go hang out with them on weekends instead of worrying about spending time with your boy.
6. Stand up for yourself. When he cheats on you, dump him.
7. Stop worrying about your mom's happiness so much that it is getting in the way of your own.
Age 18:
8. Take a risk and go to the college that you really want to go to, regardless of having a boyfriend back home and going into debt. You're going into debt anyway.
9. Dump your boyfriend before college. Your mind is going to wander a lot and you'll spend two years being unhappy.
Age 19:
10. Focus on your spring semester. A lot of bad things are going to happen to you within these few months, but don't let it get in the way of your priorities.
11. Stop letting yourself get used by people who don't deserve your tears. Eventually you'll learn not to cry over them.
