In third grade, I was at a party on the playground of my elementary school. A pi–ata was hung by a jump rope threaded through the monkey bars, and I stood aside as the kids went up to bat. I grasped the metal pole as I watched, and turned my head for a split secondÉand BAM! The girl with the metal bat had swung, missed the pi–ata, and bashed my finger against the metal pole. My finger was completely split open, and the skin was peeled back, revealing what I thought was the bone. I was in complete shock, and as I felt the pole vibrating, I glanced at my finger wide-eyed and started screaming my head off. I started crying hysterically, even though my finger was so numb that I couldn't feel an ounce of pain. The blood dripped everywhere until I got to the hospital where I got 10 stitches. They sewed it up too tightly, and now my finger snaps when I try to tighten and bend it.
