Advice on Kindergarten to Dwana, age 5
1. On the first day, don t shed tears even if the crayons aren t sharp! Your parents weren t lying when they said you d get brand new colors. They didn t know that the school kept all the old, dull, naked, crayons heaped in a bucket that would be passed around that very first day. Sure, till be the first disappointment of many but there s no use crying over broken crayons.
2. Don t sweat it if at first have many friends. Or any. You re not some terrible crybaby freak. You re just an only child that grew up on a farm with no other kids to socialize with. This is your first time and they don t understand that. Embarrassment doesn t last forever. Usually.
3. Embrace you weirdness! It s what makes you completely unique and later on it s that quality that attracts the coolest, most entertaining, and healthy friends. Others won t accept you off-beat self until you do.
4. Don t be ashamed to kiss the other girls. It doesn t mean a damn thing except that their freak-out overreactions are hilarious.
At you age, a kiss is simply a kiss nothing more, nothing less. Until you come across Freud, but feel free to ignore.
5. Be one of the boys! Just don t the girls cry while you re at it. Then that s just being a jerk. But DO be the daddy when playing house with classmates! Keep wearing those clip-on ties even two at a time!! Have the best of both genders.
6. For stars sake, learn to tie your laces. Don t fight it. Even though you could where Velcro shoes forever, you won t want to.
7. Sleep during naptime it s the only chance they ll give you.
8. Never grow up. Not entirely
