Advice to Carly at Age 6: Learn to appreciate your relatives and your parents; your relationships will soon grow very different. Relish your freedom and innocence.
Age 8: Don't be afraid; the new school will be different, but you'll be fine.
Age 10: Accept that you aren't moving to Belgium, but enjoy your trip to Europe nonetheless. It will be life changing. But be careful; you almost lose your leg in a subway accident.
Age 12: Don't take Alli and Julie so personally. You'll develop into a wonderful young woman without their approval or inclusion.
Age 14: Savor every single moment of this year. It will be the best one you'll have for awhile. Love your friends, your teachers, and yourself. High school changes everything.
Age 16: You'll fall into a debilitating depression for over a year; your group of friends will dissolve, you will gain 50 pounds, and you'll want to die. Doug will tell you that he's gay, and you'll struggle with not having him around. Stay close to Hannah, for she will become the most important person in your life.
Age 17: Your depression will recess, you will finally confront your parents, and you'll find a home way from home in Annapolis
