Advice to Gabby, Age 10:
1. Keep jumping on the bed. Don t worry, it won t break (despite what mom says)
2. Stay away from Laura. She s nothing but trouble.
3. Ignore the girls who make fun of you for doing your own thing and not paying attention to the boys yet. Fifth grade is too young for a boyfriend anyway.
4. Even though you want to quit playing the violin, stick with it. And start practicing more, it will pay off.
5. Pay better attention in math class. It seems pointless now, but in a few years you ll be screwed if you don t know your long division.
6. Enjoy the time you spend together with your family, because your dad is going to leave next year.
7. Speaking of your dad, don t try to talk to him about your period. Even though it was talked about in sex ed class, it will be really awkward to bring the topic up with him. Plus, you won t get it for a few years so you have nothing to worry about.
