Advice to Lisa at 14:
1. Sleeping with men will not make them like you. Trust me.
2. Don't go out drinking with Dale on his 21st birthday. You will regret it for the rest of your adult life.
3. Don't fall for every man who pays attention to you. Make them work for it and don't worry that being a little unavailable will prevent you from ever getting a boyfriend.
4. When men tell you that you are "old for your age" don't sleep with them. You aren't old for your age. You are a teenager. And they are perverts.
5. Journal more. It's amazing the things you will forget.
6. Accept yourself for who you are. You don't need to be more interesting or attractive. Believe me, you aren't hard on the eyes.
7. Forgive your father sooner than later. You'll regret the missing years. And he'll never stop bringing them up.
8. Don't take yourself so seriously. You'll have more fun.
9. Tell Tobias how you feel in high school. If you don't you'll lose touch with him and always wonder what could have been.
10. When you are 20 and you meet a man named Doug while swing dancing RUN! Run as fast as you can. Don't give him your number. Don't dance with him. Don't even give him your real name.
11. Ryan Petersen is a jerk. Let him go. He isn't worth the lifetime of heartache he'll give you.

13. Don't worry about being over dressed. Be fabulous as often as possible.
14. It's okay to not eat everything on your plate. Eating won't make you feel loved.

17. Spend more time with Matt. You have less time than you think with him. Tell him you love him more often. Tell him you are proud of him. Listen to his music. Laugh with him. Give him advice. And try to cherish those memories and not grieve too long when he's gone.
