1. Geraldine Ferrarra ran as Walter Mondale's VPElect against Ronald Reagan. Of course Ferrarra & Mondale lost but it was memorable to me that she ran at all. A woman could run for the office of Vice President and lose! What a landmark.
2. Hill Street Blues was huge & I was enamored with the cop & the attorney who had the love affair going. I just thought it was so sexy, them being professionals in a gritty urban world and being lovers too.
3. Michael Jackson was huge & I couldn"t stand him or his music or his white glove or anything that had anything to do with Michael Jackson. I did, however, adore "Let It Be" by the Replacements and "Zen Arcade" by Husker Dü.
4. Did I mention I got really depressed when Reagan was re-elected?
5. I read Joyce's "Ulysses" every night till I finished it at an honest to goodness Irish pub while drinking iced Stoli and doing nothing else remotely "Irish".
