1. the first time i can remember A) being attracted to a friend's brother (i wanted to play He-man w/ him, rather than Ginny dolls with her), & B) being attracted to a younger member of the opposite sex (i once won a "cradle robbing" award at summer camp)
2. i was speechless when i unwrapped the christmas present, which my 10-year-old self was convinced would be a generic doll, and lo and behold it was a real Cabbage Patch Kid! thanks mom.
3. riding the field-trip bus home from Kennedy Space Center, my best friend Samantha fell asleep with her head on my shoulder. it's the first time i remember feeling tenderness and love toward a friend.
4. Coach Bryars, who lived in an RV on our playground, had a sleepover/campout for all the 5th grade girls. we were convinced that he was peeking through a hole in the bathroom wall while we changed & peed.
5. candace and i locked her door & posed naked for each other to draw. jennifer and i locked her bedroom door & proudly showed off & counted our pubic hairs together (as i recall, i was jealous - she had nine, i had six).
