1. I encounter grief for the first time in my life, when both my goldfish die and I bury them ceremonially, one in the sand-box behind our house, the other one in the town's river, while my soundtrack to that new feeling is U2's "The unforgettable fire".
2. The Summer Olympics in LA give me a huge motivational push towards becoming a better swimmer (Germany's Michael "Albatross" Gross wins loads of medals!) and let me spend all my allowance on candy-bars containing pictures for an Olympic sticker-album.
3. I'm in 2nd grade that summer and do a breakdance-performance with two of my buddies at that year's elemantary-school summer fair.
4. I watch "Gremlins" and "Ghostbusters" at the movies and show first symptoms of chronical movie-buffiosis.
5. My 6-years older brother records a Christmas-mix-tape from a radio-show, including a.o. Depeche Mode's "Blasphemous Rumors", (thus DM become the first and most important band in my life) and he humiliates me deeply by hiding my utter-most wanted gift (Wembley, a FraggleRock-puppet) behind the stereo on X-mas Eve - so I think I didn't get it-, which makes me cry like hell and almost ruin everyone's holiday.
