Mum: Yeah, but it's jus-

Mum: But you don't know why I got them...
Me: Well, why'd you get them?
Mum (looking through trunk of car): Where's that stuff I just bought?
Me: Why'd you buy them?
Mum: Hold on, I'll tell you in a minute.
Me: What are you looking for?
Mum: something I just bought!
Me: (sigh) I just don't understand why you'd buy those cookies after what
We just talked about.
Mum: I bought them for the party they're having at work tomorrow. We're all supposed to bring something...
Me: but then you're just facilitating it! How can you say you're not going to do something then open opportunity up for others to do the thing you are supposedly convicted to not doing? It's like telling your kids not to lie, but then asking them to fib to their teacher about why they were late to school.
Mum (pulling out an Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind DVD): Here! I bought this for you!
Me: Okay, thanks. Just put it in the trunk.
