Toronto Grace Hospital

I decided to volunteer in the Palliative Care Unit of the Toronto Grace Hospital and went through the training that is necessary to participate in that program. While I was there, I became very close to a patient called Eda. She was there for 8 months, and although she was a terminal cancer patient, she went into remission and started to recover. We were all amazed, including the Doctors. We celebrated and started making plans for her to go home. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and Eda never left the hospital.
As it turned out, she was one of the patients profiled in the Allen King documentary called "Dying At Grace". Her memory lives on.
