On the evening of Thursday, June 16, 2005, I visited my uncle, Vishnu Seudath, at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton. At the time of the visit he was unconscious in the ICU. Before that, he checked himself in because he felt he had a hard time breathing. On one of the nights he spent in the hospital, waiting for a machine to clear his lungs of liquid, he stopped breathing for an unknown amount of time and suffered irreversible brain damage. My uncle died June 25, 2005. Hmmm, I thought hospitals monitored your breathing, especially if you complain about having a hard time breathing.
