I discovered that I had scoliosis when I was 8 years old. When I reached my freshman year in high school my doctor told me that I needed to have a spinal fusion. He told me that if I chose not to when I reached my late 20's my ribs would cave in, suffocate my heart, and I would die. So. I had the stupid surgery and I like to think that I am alive.
