The Scars of Friendship

I am submitting a photograph of my partner's scarred arm, along with his description of how he received the injuries that caused those scars.

"My dog Taffy was one of my best friends.Ê Her response to the rhythms of my daily life was one of understanding and support that transcended our human/animal reality.Ê There was little I could do to help my friend when she developed epilepsy except give her medicine to control her seizures, make sure she was safe when it did not and her body writhed in spasm, and be there to comfort her when consciousness returned.Ê It was during a seizure that occurred suddenly while she rested on the sofa, that I lifted her to put her on the floor, out of harm's way and a possible fall from the couch.Ê Her flailing legs produced the scratches that remind me of a special friend in her time of need, and how little I could do to help her."
