I was about in my preteens (around 11 or 12) and I went with my family to Hood River in Oregon. My parents were out windsurfing and they left my sister and I to wade around in a small closed off part of the river called "The Hook". I was walking through the shin deep water and I felt something brush my toe. I lifted my foot out of the water and saw that there deep cut along the top of my toe that must have been half an inch deep. I had to get 4 or 5 stitches, and subsequently I couldnt take my shoes off or swim with my friends when I went camping at the beach a the next week. I figure my foot was cut by a broken beer can or fishing line. Just more recycling propaganda!
