It is the bottom of the 7th inning, the last in a girl's softball game. The home team was down by one and it was up to one girl to get a run in for that team. The girl was up in the count 2 balls and no strikes. She hits a fastball to the fence and out of the box like a horse in a race. She rounds first, then second and on her way to third, she sees the ball thrown from the leftfielder and she is faced with a great challenge, slide into third and have a chance to win the game for her ball club or break a poca shell bracelet that her boyfriend had just gotten for her. The ball and her hit the dirt and unknowingly breaks the shells leaving a life long mark.
